Our History
A century of the Order in Australia
The Order of the Eastern Star has been part of Australian life since the first Chapter opened in Brisbane in 1912, and has been governed here by The United Grand Chapter of Australia since 1985. The record of everything between sits in three places on this site.
The largest part of it is the Chapters’ own. Under an initiative of the UGCA Strategic Plan, every Chapter — open or dormant — is asked to set down its history and timeline, so that members, and the wider public researching a family connection, can find it in one searchable place. Each history is published on that Chapter’s own page.
